Egg plays a vital role in our diet. It is considered by various people that eggs are harmful because they lead to an increase in cholesterol and increase the weight. People think that eggs are not very healthy for their children or them. But this all is just a myth and this blog discusses the various factors of the egg.

There are beliefs about an egg that it causes heart diseases and several other diseases. These myths are needed to be broken. The egg is a portion of very healthy and necessary food for our daily lives. The egg is rich in several minerals vitamins proteins and antioxidants. Eggs are cheap and are available everywhere.

Benefits of egg 

Egg offers a variety of benefits to us. It is not only tasty food but also a healthy one along with various proteins calcium and several vitamins and nutrients.

  • An egg has a high nutritional value: Irrespective of the size of the egg it has a lot of nutrients packed along with it. It contributes to a highly rich protein diet. An egg has calories and nutrition value according to its size. Even the smallest size has a good amount of nutrients within it. A simple boiled egg contains Vitamins like vitamins A, B5, B12, D, E, K, and B6. It has folate, phosphorus, calcium, zinc, and various other proteins and mineral in a correct proportion. Egg also consists of unsaturated fat which is good for the heart.
  • Effect on cholesterol: We all know that high cholesterol level leads to various heart diseases. Though it is said that egg yolk is rich in high calories, it does not affect 70% of the crowd but this cholesterol may affect the ones those who are hyper responders to cholesterol. There may be a slight rise in LDL but it does not affect the body.
  • An egg is a source of good cholesterol: Our body has two types of Cholesterol within it one which is the good one called the HDL and the other one which is the bad one which affects the body called LDL. Egg produces this good cholesterol which fights heart diseases. Good cholesterol destroys the bad cholesterol and hence it lowers the chance of heart disease.
  • The egg is a good source of choline. Choline is a vitamin that is water-soluble and is often grouped with vitamin b. Is vitamin used to build cell membranes and help in producing signaling molecules in the brain? A good boiled egg has 147mg of choline.
  • Eggs help in building eyesight. It has lutein and zeaxanthin in large amounts and also has helpful antioxidants that reduce the risk of cataracts and degeneration in the eyes. It also has Vitamin A which is useful for eye health.
  • A contains high protein and it influences our diet and also has a positive effect on our health. It helps in fighting bad cholesterol and increases heart health. Doctors prefer the consumption of eggs because of their high nutritional value.

Disadvantages of egg 

Despite having various advantages egg also has a variety of disadvantages. Though it produces a high amount of good cholesterol still it contains a lot of calories. It has about 200 mg of cholesterol within an average size egg. Despite producing good cholesterol it increases the risks of heart diseases.

Many studies have proved that the consumption of eggs regularly can cause cancer. It also increases the risk of diabetes. Many studies have proved that those who consume eggs in few or amount has less amount of diabetes rather than those who consume a large amount of egg.

Does egg increase weight. 

As the study suggests that eggs do not contribute to gaining weight but it helps to lose weight. The egg is a low-calorie food that is rich in protein and nutrients. Eggs can be helpful for people to lose weight, especially for those who maintain a calorie-controlled diet.

Researchers have shown that eggs boost metabolic activities and this gives the energy to the person to do more exercise. It promotes weight loss and avoids having carbohydrate-rich diets. An increase in metabolic activities results in loss of high calories and this in results help the individual to lose weight. Hence it is preferred by many physicians for the ones who go to the gym to eat eggs daily.

Role of egg in cholesterol. 

Many recent studies have proved that egg does not increase the risk of heart diseases. It does not cause any disease or risk factors like inflammation, stiffening of the arteries, or raising of cholesterol levels. Studies have proved that eating eggs does not affect cholesterol levels.

Many studies have found that diabetic people who consumed 6-12 eggs every week didn’t suffer from cholesterol problems nor neither was the cholesterol affected negatively by eggs. Though it resulted in the production of good cholesterol in the body called the HDL. HDL helps in reducing the other types of cholesterol in the blood.

Though many studies notice the increase of cholesterol through an egg diet still the chronic disease risk remained unchanged. So anyone can eat egg it doesn’t increase the risk of chronic heart diseases that causes death or any negative impact. Consumption of eggs regularly can be harmful but if it is consumed in a lower amount then it is good for the heart and various other diseases.
