What is hypertension 

Hypertension is also defined as the pressure of the blood against the artery wall. It is also known as blood pressure. When there is an excessive rise in blood pressure it creates a situation in the body called hypertension. It has no such symptoms so the blood pressure must be checked regularly to avoid the heart diseases it may cause. If the high blood pressure is not treated for a long period it may cause severe body problems and may even lead to death. To avoid such situations regular checkup, exercises, and a dash diet is required.

What is dash diet 

The full form of the dash diet is a dietary approach to stop hypertension. It is considered a healthy eating plan for the treatment or prevention of high blood pressure. This type of diet is rich in potassium, calcium and magnesium, and various other necessary nutrients. It helps in controlling blood pressure. 

Dash diet to reduce blood sugar level: 

Various factors are needed to be considered in the dash diet to reduce the blood sugar level.

  • Salt: Salt affects blood pressure in various ways. Salt is made up of sodium. When there is too much sodium input into the body, the body holds the extra water to wash the salt from the body and this in return causes the body pressure to rise. The extra water puts stress on the heart as well as the blood vessels. Doctors prefer not to eat too much salt after a certain age. It is preferred to have less amount of added salt as there are many foods with added preservatives that consists of added salt.
  • High-fat Dairy products: High-fat dairy products cause a rise in high blood pressure. They have high calories and are rich in fat so it is preferred by the doctors to avoid such foods. Double-toned milk or fatty creams tends to increase blood pressure. Various supplements of this product prevent the rising in blood pressure. When there is a rise in blood pressure it may cause various heart-related diseases. 
  • Sugar content: Food with high sugar content is also rich in calories. Excessive sugar intake produces nitric oxide (NO) in the blood. Nitric oxide inhibits the expansion of the blood vessels. Which in return increases the blood flow along with the blood pressure. This can cause a situation of hypertension. To keep hypertension normal the sugar level needs to be kept under control. Food with excessive sugar such as sweets or cakes or cookies needs to be avoided. The sugar-free supplement of these foods can be consumed in place of these foods.
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables: Fruits and vegetables are rich in essential nutrients and this can be included in healthy diets. It helps to defeat several heart-related diseases and other problems. They consist of potassium, a mineral that is essential for keeping blood pressure low. Though it is suggested not to take in sugar fruits with sugar content can be a good supplement. Fruits and vegetables affect the effect of salt and help in reducing blood pressure. 
  • Red meat: Red meat is strictly abolished from the dash diet because it consists of high fat. The fat constituent is high in this meat and this causes the body pressure to rise. So red meat like mutton or beef is highly not preferred for people after a certain age.

The calories increase with the intake of these meats. Though chicken is considered as healthy for the people attaining this diet. This meat increases the high blood pressure so it is said to stop the taking of this meat.

Other factors that are needed to be maintained to reduce hypertension:

Various factors affect blood pressure such as sugar, cholesterol, and fat these all have various influences on the blood pressure level. So, along with the maintenance of pressure it is also needed to maintain these factors. To maintain these factors a person needs to attend diet as well as do exercises to minimize the risk of heart attack or stroke.

A higher level of these few factors can lead to very big and huge problems including chronic heart diseases that may even cause death. A person also needs to have healthy eating habits and sleeping habits to keep all this under control. Eating high carbs should be minimized along with cutting up fat should also be increased. If a person cuts off high-calorie foods these factors will be maintained and will be under control.
